The ad waste problem is real, especially when it comes to the digital sphere. This year, marketers are expected to spend $68 billion on digital ads in 2016 compared to $66 billion for TV. Despite this heavy investment, Google found more than 56% of ad impressions are never seen by consumers, and Proxima estimates $37 billion of worldwide marketing budgets are being wasted on poor digital performance. There are a number of reasons digital advertisers are throwing their dollars down the drain:
- Ad fraud
- Ad blocking
- Lack of relevancy and poor targeting
